SARcon Version 1.12F _______________________________________________________________________________ SARcon (Save And Restore system CONfiguration settings) is to help you a little to overcome some problems arising from soft/hard resets. Especially that loss of system settings like owner information, date-/time- and number formats, etc. SARcon allows to save and later restore certain system configuration settings: - Sound settings - Auto power off settings - Environment variables: - Owner information ($WS_PW) - window-server flags ($WS_FL) - window-server fonts ($WS_FNTS) - screen dump target file ($WS_SD) - system font ($WS_SF) - evaluator format prefs (M$V) - dial settings (D$X) - xtended communications settings (L$X) - printer device (P$D) - printer file (P$F) - printer serial (P$S) - printer model (P$M) - printer parallel (P$P) - paper size (P$Z) - ir printer port (P$IP) - parallel settings siena/3c (P$PX) - calculator settings (C$CALC) - tips (TW$S) - world app prefs (W$C) - world app settings (W$R) - spellchecker (SP$DRV) - spellchecker (SP$OPT) - spellchecker exists (WP$SPEL) - thesaurus exists (WP$THES) - 3fax (F$X) - 3fax modem params (F$XM) - 3fax power usage data (F$XP) - Country information: - current offset from GMT - date/time format - currency format - start of week - currently active summer times - clock type (analogous/digital) - workdays - units (inches/centimetres) SARcon runs on the 3a, 3c and Siena. However, not all environment variables are used on all machines and only those that are in use will be saved. It is strongly recommended not to use configuration files on other machines than that on which they were created. Files created with versions prior to 1.10F are not compatible with SARcon 1.10F. To install SARcon simply copy the file to your Psion as follows: \OPO\SARCON.OPO Run SARcon from underneath the RunOPL icon, which you may have to install from ROM ('install standard'). You can have more than one configuration file, all are stored in \CNF\ which will be created on first run. Be aware that a hard reset usually deletes all the files on the internal RAM disc - also your configuration file. It therefore appears to be a good idea to store SARcon and the configuration file(s) on a flash or at least to have a backup of them somewhere ... --- LEGAL STUFF --------------------------------------------------------------- SARcon is released as FreeWare, you have the one and only right to use this program for the intended purpose. You may not in any way reverse translate the program. You may distribute the program provided that you keep all supplied files together and do not charge anything for it. Although this program has been carefully tested I can not guarantee that it works as desired. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Please send me an eMail, fax or postcard and tell me whether you use (or don't use) this program and how you like (or dislike) SARcon and what you wish to be done in future versions (if any). Bugs? Sure - but where... so please report all you find ;-) Have fun! ______________________________________________________\_______Brendan W.
